HELP/FAQ’s
Frequently asked questions.
How do I know if I need cataract surgery?
Your optometrist will discuss this with you at your regular eye examination. If you are struggling with symptoms such as cloudy or blurred vision, difficulty in seeing during the night or in dim conditions, sensitivity to light and glare, need for brighter than normal light to read or see objects, seeing halos around lights, seeing objects in faded or yellow colour, then seek advice from your regular optometrist who will advise you of the next steps.

Can cataracts come back?
Put simply, no. Once your crystalline lens has been removed during cataract surgery then cataracts do not come back. However, in approximately 10% of cases, debris can accumulate behind the new implant. This is called posterior capsular opacification (PCO). This can be easily treated in minutes by a procedure using a laser called a YAG capsulotomy. If you are one of the few who gets this then we offer this procedure here at BHA under the NHS.
